Know Thames? Lend a Hand at the Hospital (Thursdays Only!)
You know what it’s like to feel useful, to have something to offer and most importantly to know it makes a difference. That’s exactly the kind of help we need right now!!
Thursdays are busy at Thames Hospital. People arrive unsure where to go, needing a bit of guidance or a hand with a wheelchair. When things get hectic, just having a calm, friendly person at the front doors can ease pressure and make a real difference, especially for our Emergency Department team.
If you’ve got a little time and a steady presence, we’d love to have you with us.
This is a great opportunity if you’re retired, looking for that social connection, or if you’re starting out and wanting to build confidence and experience. You don’t need any special skills, all we need is a warm attitude and a willingness to help.
Here’s what you’d be doing:
- Welcoming patients and visitors with a friendly hello
- Helping people find the right department
- Offering support to those needing a wheelchair or mobility help
- Making sure wheelchairs are available and ready to go
- Keeping the waiting area tidy and comfortable
- Supporting reception staff with small tasks if needed
You won’t be based in the Emergency Department, but you’ll be helping ease the load by guiding people in the right direction before they get there.
And the truth is — we can’t run this role without locals stepping up. It only works if people from our own community put their hands up and offer to help. Right now, we really need you.
