Who We Are
We’re a small, community-minded team with a big belief: that volunteering has the power to transform lives and communities.
Since 1993, Volunteering Waikato – Te Ohu Tūao o Waikato – has championed the spirit of giving back. We know that volunteering builds confidence, creates connection, and makes communities stronger, more resilient and vibrant.
We’re passionate about growing a culture of volunteering where people feel inspired to get involved and experience the positive impact of giving their time.
We’re here to encourage, support, and celebrate those who choose to give – and to make sure every volunteer and organisation feels valued and empowered on their journey.
What We Do
Every day, we see the power of volunteering – a student supporting a foodbank, a retiree mentoring youth, a workplace team helping transform a community space.
At Volunteering Waikato – Te Ohu Tuuao o Waikato – we help make these moments happen. We connect people with meaningful roles that fit their time, interests, and goals.
We also support community organisations to build strong, welcoming volunteer programmes offering advice, resources, and training to grow their impact. It’s all about creating a supportive environment where volunteers and the organisations they serve can thrive.
As part of a wider community of volunteer centres across Aotearoa, we stay connected to best practices, fresh ideas, and national advocacy for the sector.
Because when people feel supported to give their time, amazing things happen and we’re proud to be part of that collective journey.
