Go Eco Food Rescue drivers are on the road five days a week, picking up surplus food around Kirikiriroa and delivering to local Free Stores.
Here’s how a shift usually goes;
- Each day starts at our Frankton depot at 6:30 am, before heading out on your route.
- Drive our manual trucks and help load and unload crates and boxes of food.
- Record rescue and redistribution data into our App (training provided).
- Return to the depot around 10.30am to clean down crates and prepare for the next shift.
Our Food Rescue service is our largest climate action project – rescuing food that would otherwise go to waste and redistributing it across the city every day. Volunteers play a huge role in rescuing over 370,000kgs a year.
